Best Places to Watch World Cup Matches in Toronto with Kids (2026)
Where to watch the FIFA World Cup games in Toronto - family friendly
By Jess GC - Toronto Family Photographer
If you're a Toronto family like us, this summer is extra exciting. The FIFA World Cup 2026 is literally happening in our city - as a football loving family, there are so many ways to soak up the magic.
I'll be honest: when I first started looking into watch parties, I was a little worried. Sports bars, big crowds, late games... not ideal when you've got a toddler on your hip and a 4-year-old who needs a bathroom every 20 minutes. But I was so pleasantly surprised. Toronto has put together some genuinely amazing, family-friendly options this summer. Some of them are totally free!
Here are my favourite picks for families with kids - from downtown Toronto to the suburbs.
1. Fan Festival at Fort York & The Bentway
Free | Downtown Toronto | Entire Tournament (June 11 – July 19)
Address: Toronto, ON M5V 3K9
This is the big one. The official FIFA Fan Festival is set up right at Fort York National Historic Site and The Bentway, and it is stunning. All 104 matches are shown on massive screens, and there's live music, cultural performances, global food vendors and family-friendly activities throughout. It's the kind of place where the kids are entertained even during a nil-nil draw. Keep in mind that if the weather is not great, they do close down and invite everyone to leave.
The location is walkable from the waterfront and easy to reach by TTC, which makes it a great full-day outing. Pack the stroller, grab some food from the vendors, and just enjoy the atmosphere. It genuinely feels like the whole world is in one place. Accessible and stroller friendly!
2. Nathan Phillips Square
Free | Downtown Toronto | Entire Tournament
Address: 100 Queen St W, Toronto, ON M5H 2N1
The City of Toronto is hosting free match broadcasts at one of the most iconic spots in the city: Nathan Phillips Square. And here's the part my kids are going to lose their minds over... there's a mini pitch right on the square where little ones can play some footy between games.
It's open, it's free, and it has that incredible city hall backdrop that makes everything feel like a big deal. Perfect for families who want to be in the heart of it all without paying for a thing.
3. Landmark Cinemas (Free Screenings across the GTA)
Free | Multiple GTA Locations | Entire Tournament
This one was such a nice surprise. Coca-Cola Canada and Landmark Cinemas have partnered to host free official World Cup viewing events across four theatres in the Greater Toronto Area. It's a theatre-style experience with the big screen, good sound and comfy seats.
For families with younger kids who might not do well with an outdoor crowd, this is honestly such a great option. You're in a controlled environment, everyone's sitting down, and it has that "movie night" feel kids already love. Just... with soccer instead of Moana.
Check the Landmark Cinemas website for your nearest GTA location and screening schedules.
4. Canada's Wonderland
Paid Entry (Watch Party Included) | Vaughan | Entire Tournament
Address: 1 Canada's Wonderland Drive, Vaughan, Ontario, L6A 1S6
Okay, hear me out. If you were already planning a Wonderland day this summer (and let's be honest, who isn't?), you can actually catch a World Cup watch party right there in the park - included with your admission ticket. There are over 104 games scheduled throughout the tournament, so chances are there's a match on whatever day you visit.
Themed food, rides before and after, and soccer on the big screen? That's a full day your kids will talk about all the way back to school in September.
5. Humber College Lakeshore Campus
Free | Etobicoke (West End) | Entire Tournament
Humber College's Lakeshore campus is an official Host City Supporter of the World Cup 2026, and they're running free, public viewing parties right on their beautiful lakefront campus all tournament long.
They're also screening matches inside their 140-seat Recital Hall for families who want a guaranteed, cozier indoor seat (ticketed). Two great options depending on your family's energy level that day.
6. Woodbridge Fairgrounds (Vaughan)
$10 admission | Woodbridge | June 12–14
This one is organized by the lovely local non-profit All About Vaughan, and it's such a fun community event. There are bouncy castles, food and beverage vendors, and a large outdoor viewing area. Admission is $10 and goes toward supporting the local community.
7. Civic Park & Whitby Soccer Dome (Whitby)
Free | Whitby | June 12 and 18
For my East End and Durham Region families - Whitby has you covered! These free outdoor viewing parties at Civic Park and the Whitby Soccer Dome are BYOL (bring your own lawn chair), which I actually love. There's a dedicated kids' zone and local food trucks on site.
8. Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre (North York)
North York | Select Dates
If you want a viewing experience that goes beyond just watching a match, this one is so special. The JCCC is partnering with J Athletics Canada to host family-friendly screenings in North York alongside local performers, guest athletes and community programming.
Even if Japan isn't your team, this is such a rich cultural experience for kids.
9. Garden Square, Brampton
Free | Brampton | June 12 + more dates TBD
Brampton's Garden Square is hosting free watch parties, and they're setting up a mini soccer court right there for drop-in play between games. For kids who can't sit still for 90 minutes (hi, every child), having a place to play soccer while watching soccer is honestly genius.
More dates are expected to be added as the tournament moves into the knockout rounds, so keep an eye on the City of Brampton's website.
10. Scarborough Civic Centre
Free | Scarborough | June 12 and 20
These free community watch parties inside the Council Chamber are a lovely, low-key option for Scarborough families. It's intimate, it's community-driven, and it's free.
A Few Tips for Watching With Kids This Summer ⚽
Bring snacks. Always bring snacks. Matches can run long and a hungry toddler does not care about extra time.
Check kick-off times. Many matches are mid-morning or afternoon... perfect for families! The late evening ones might be better suited for older kids.
Dress in your team colours. Kids absolutely love this and it makes for amazing photos (wink wink 📷).
Arrive early for outdoor events. The best spots fill up fast, especially for Canada's games.
Stroller-friendly tip: The FIFA Fan Festival at Fort York is generally accessible, but double-check transit routes on match days as crowds can be big.
I'm so excited for this summer in Toronto. The World Cup doesn't come to our city every day, and watching it with my own kids - seeing them experience the energy of a global event right in our hometown - is something I know I'll treasure forever.
And if you want to capture those memories? As a Toronto family photographer, I'd love to help you freeze this summer in photos.
